Outset advise on new strategic partnership for infrastructure and construction heavyweights

Outset advise Toppesfield on new strategic partnership with FM Conway.

Toppesfield, the UK’s largest independent surfacing company, has entered into a new partnership with Sevenoaks-based infrastructure services business, FM Conway.

FM Conway has acquired a minority shareholding in Toppesfield, who provide road surfacing and associated services to both the private industrial and major infrastructure sectors, with particular capability on major projects on the UK strategic network.

The partnership will assist FM Conway in the expansion of their aggregates and asphalt business, whilst also supporting Toppesfield’s strategic growth aims. The alliance is anticipated to create a partnership which can significantly expand both parties' existing capabilities.

The team at Outset UK Group, led by Sean Gorman, advised both Toppesfield and its existing shareholders on the deal.

Matthew Pryor, Managing Director of Toppesfield, commented:

"I am excited to welcome FM Conway as a partner in our business, the discussions we have had to date show that we have similar client-focused values within the businesses and I firmly believe that we will be offering our clients continued excellence. Sean and the team at Outset delivered on a tight timetable for us, which was critical for us to progress with our strategic goals.”

Michael Conway, Chief Executive Officer of FM Conway, said the partnership with Toppesfield would help deliver better outcomes for both businesses’ customers.

“Toppesfield’s national reach and capacity complements our strong client base in surfacing, term maintenance, civil engineering and consultancy across London and the south of England, as well as our ongoing investment in our materials business”

Speaking after the completion, Sean Gorman said: “It’s great to have played a key role in this deal. The partnership created will strongly underpin both parties’ growth plans, in particular in the UK infrastructure sector. This outstanding deal contributes to an already successful year for Outset UK Group. Since January, our team has completed over 60 deals, with a total deal value in excess of £200m. I wish both Toppesfield and FM Conway all the best in delivering on the strategic aims of this new, dynamic alliance.”
