Stephen Gerring

Managing Director - UKHSE

As the Managing Director, Steve is responsible for the day-to-day management of our safety division. His past experience provides a broad expanse of knowledge to call upon when assisting clients with their Health and Safety systems. He is involved in the delivery of solutions to meet clients’ needs, whether this is in ‘policy development’; CDM Co-coordinator services or the delivery of a ‘tailor-made’ training course.

When away from work, what do you enjoy doing?

I enjoy spending time with my gorgeous wife, whether this is socialising, at home or travelling the world. I am lucky enough to be able to say that I am passionate and enthusiastic about my job, I tend to put the same in to my spare time and make the most of every day.

I enjoy going to the theatre and music concerts, is it okay to say I like Westlife?

I get a great deal of pleasure from cooking and experimenting with recipes, I tend not that recipes act as a starting point for you to develop!

There is another girl in my life, Cassie; an absolutely beautiful if somewhat neurotic Rough Collie (Lassie, to most people).

I also volunteer for one of the five Rotary groups in the Medway towns, I feel strongly about their goal of "making a difference" on a local, national and international level. This organisation has achieved so much and stays out of the limelight on the majority of occasions.

What is your favourite book or movie?

I am an avid reader of any books by John Grisham and Lee Child, the Pelican brief and One Shot being two good films based on books from these authors.

Describe an interesting fact about yourself?

I studied the trumpet, achieving a grade 5 (means I can play a tune, just about), I also played in a band for a number of years.

When you were a child what did you want to be when you grew up?

Thinking back this far, I had a desire to join the army, no idea why but I often mentioned to people when asked.
